It's been quite a while since I've done a Friday link list but the internet's been so great lately I just had to share. Here are a few things that cracked me up or set off my awesome meter this week...

Kmart killed it again. (Be sure to watch this one, too.)

Target does Bridal. Is there anything they can't master? Brillant.

Google search for GIFs! I found out 15 minutes ago and have spent an equal amount of time on Falling Cats.

This salsa is getting devoured this weekend.

An insightful history of Memorial Day. Crazy how what originated as day for shop and business shut downs has morphed into a weekend of sales. Speaking of, I'm currently stalking the "Mint's", Rebecca Minkoff, and Z Gallerie.

Big hugs to my baby Mojito, who fell (jumped?) off our balcony this week. (About eight hours after I took this photo and told him he had to live forever because I love him to pieces.) All's well, but he gave us quite the scare. In other things you need to know, my babes have their own hashtag on Intsta. (Gram that is.) #AdventuresofMojitoandPetey, check it.

On a serious note, my heart is with Oklahoma after Monday's terrifying event. If this doesn't make you well up, I don't know what will.

Happy Friday m'loves! And a happy belated Labor Day / 13th to you :)

It's beginning to look like... Fall! around these parts and I'm currently loving the crisp mornings and sunny days. In order to take advantage of it here are a few things on the agenda for this weekend:

• Dinner here.

• The Nordstrom Cosmetic's Trend Show - can't wait. (If you're in Chicago it's not too late to join in the fun!) Check out my coverage of the 2010 and 2011 events and return soon, I'll be reporting back next week with the best in beauty for fall 2012.

• Camping! (I'm a fan.)

• A nude pump overhaul inspired by this. Except instead of black, I'm considering metallic silver!

This Fourth of July, I'm expressing my thanks for the freedoms and opportunities that it means to be an American. Living in the land of the free, home of the brave is not something to be taken for granted. By simply being born here, we're privileged a lifestyle that many will never experience. Amidst the celebrations and fireworks, I hope you'll take a moment and remember those that have sacrificed for our freedoms, fought for our rights and protected our land and homes, from sea to shining sea. Whether you were born here, or trying to make a life, if you love this country that's enough for me.

Happy Weekend {Green Edition}

Happy Friday Leprechauns!

This weekend is the St. Patrick's Day celebration in Chicago. I'm not sure who started it but observing on the Saturday prior to the 17th is genius in my opinion. St. Patty's is a major deal here in the city - we dye the Chicago River (check out this rad video I posted last year) and like to enjoy a full day of going green with friends - green beer, green outfits, even green wigs! It's one of the many reasons I love living here - this town truly knows how to have a good time!

After a great week with work in New York City things should be back to normal around here next week - thanks for your patience! It was a week of 'missed' for me...in addition to missing our daily chats, I learned that I 'just missed' Kim Kardashian at the Dash NYC store (I was there the evening prior) and I 'just missed' an International Women's Day celebration at Kate Spade in SoHo - literally blocks from my hotel. C'est la vie I guess - the energy alone in NYC is enough to sustain me.

On a serious note, I hope all of you and your loved ones are safe following the devastating tsunami and earthquake in Japan. My thoughts and prayers go out to those affected.

As we plan & prepare for Thanksgiving I have details on the brain. Cooking is ok, but it's really the other things that get me excited (like list making and centerpieces. :) Originally indended for an engagement party, I think this arrangement and table setting would make the most beautiful Thanksgiving day impression. The mix of gold and grey is unexpected and divine!

Happy Weekend {Movie Edition}

Happy Weekend Dolls! Is it cold where you are? Here in Chicago we had sleet Thursday night, brrrr...which means movie weather is upon us! I hardly watch TV or movies in the summer so I can savor every little bit of sunshine at the beach, on the balcony or dining al fresco. But come chilly weather, call me Mrs. Couch Potato! Last week we watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and while lengthy, I fell in love with the story. I also fell head over heels for one miss Cate Blanchett, those cheekbones!

Let's appreciate a little Cate, shall we?

Happy Weekend! {Closet Envy Edition}

This weekend our big project is the seasonal closet swap. It's one part fun (like getting a new wardrobe all at once!), one part stressful (what if I need that tank top in the middle of winter?) Ugh. Actually, despite being a ton of work switching wardrobes for 2 people, it's a project I really don't dread because I like organizing and playing with clothes :) However, life would be a tad easier if I had an entire room to devote to it. I think my dream closet would include sections for each color family and space in the middle for a jewelry/accessories cabinet. Feast your eyes upon these fabulous closets/dressing rooms....

This weekend we're hitting up an Art Walk and hopefully browsing some thrift stores. I'm on the hunt for a dress form (aka French mannequin) to decorate with. From elegant to shabby chic, with modern polka dots or vintage linen - there are a gazillion different ways you can use them...

Layer it with necklaces. Display your favorite bags. Cover her in a gorgeous frock. Convert into a memo board. What would you do with it?

Here's wishing you a wonderful weekend! What are your plans? After a very lazy last weekend, this one will be full of friends, wine and activity. We're visiting the Lake Michigan shore wine trail on Sunday and while I have determined a few favorites, I certainly don't consider myself a wine snob. These coasters make me giggle. Do people really say these things? Sometimes humans can be sooo dramatic...

Happy 4th Weekend!!

A holiday weekend is upon us and I hope you have something fabulous planned!  Extra days off are my favorite. I've got a list a mile long of things to do including: visit a U-pick farm in Michigan, fireworks (of course) and my first Hot Yoga experience!  Be safe, stay cool and wear sunscreen :)

I can't get enough of this jam. Miss Katy looks hot, Snoop rocks and I wanna be a California girl! I heard 2 interviews on the radio with Katy yesterday. She said this song was her playful response to Jay-Z's 'Empire State of Mind', a little west coast respresntation! And how cute is it that her cat is named Kitty Purry, I mean really :)

What's up for the weekend sweet peeps?  Chicago is abuzz with activities - Blackhawks victory parade, Cubs/Sox Crosstown Classic, Bluesfest.... I love how the city comes alive in Summer. (It's also amazing how much better I feel when the sun is out!) I'm happy to be home for the 1st weekend in a few weeks. Traveling is fun but I'm looking forward to hanging here for this one - rooftop dining, karaoke and housework are on the agenda!

Speaking of front porches - we're enjoying the holiday weekend in Tennessee and my heart is happy. We'll be spending 2 days at a BBQ competition, eating some good food and listening to live tunes. My Stepdad has a BBQ team and my Dad's blues band is playing. My own little slice of heaven!

Have you ever been to one? They're so exciting! The competition is fierce but it's all in good fun. Since I'm a vegetarian my role is the 'runner' - the person who turns in the food for judging. Lacing up my sturdy shoes and setting that stopwatch - here I come...
