Summa Time: Week 19 Recap

Week 19

The weather this week was beautiful (minus the rainy few hours pictured above) so we took lots of walks around the neighborhood soaking up the sun and breezes. I'm living in stretchy skirts and tunic tops these days, as well as maxi's and flowy sundresses with room for the bump. Getting dressed is an interesting challenge being a new size and shape what feels like daily. Baby is the size of a mango and I'm continuing my unintentional trend of eating lots of whatever food the baby's size corresponds to so I had a mango smoothie every morning, and mango with sticky rice one night (which tasted like Heaven). I can’t believe we’re one week away from being half way there and in just a few more days we’ll know if it’s going to be bows or bow ties for our little nugget! The beginning felt slow, I guess because we were anticipating a heartbeat and waiting to break the news, but time is truly flying now.

A few more snaps from the weekend:

Mojito doesn't appear impressed, but he loves to snuggle on my belly.
Michigan Avenue looked beautiful this weekend.
Greek fest for dinner on Saturday night, summer food is the best!
This dress fit a lot different a few weeks ago...

Wishing you a wonderful week!

Galena and #Bangie2013

Wednesday, July 3, 2013

A few weekends ago we visited Galena, Illinois to celebrate our friend's wedding festivities (Ben + Angie = #Bangie2013) and hit a few tourist spots in between. A few hours from Chicago, Galena is a sweet little town that surprisingly reminds me of Tennessee (Jonesborough, to be exact) and I absolutely loved it. Quiet, quaint and relaxing; truly a breath of fresh air.  The wedding was beautiful, complete with a spectacular view of the Mississippi  River and it was an adventure we won't soon forget. Photo heavy post below!

Monday Musing

Monday, June 3, 2013

On Saturday I wore this. On Sunday it was forty six. Go figure.

A few years ago in Chicago we had what I dubbed "the summer of no summer" where for nearly three months it was neither warm, nor sunny. Just blah. And it killed me. Growing up in Tennessee summer is always summer, no questions, and no matter where I live the rest of my life, I'll always need it. At the rate it's going my concerns are growing each and every day that we're in for a repeat. Sundresses and street fests and the beach at the end of our street are calling my name, only Mother Nature isn't cooperating...get it together woman!

Alas, we had our first rooftop party and hit up Do Division over the weekend (before it rained) and it felt great to jump into some summer apparel. These scalloped peach suede shorts are a fave so far. (Similar here.) The bun was a "hurry-let's-go" attempt at looking presentable with wet hair, but paired with this, once dry, created some piece-y slight waves that ended up being acceptable. I also spent a few hours with Photoshop on Sunday, something I haven't done in ages, and it felt good to create all my birthday/occasion cards for the month. What else is there to do when it's so ugh outside?

Ok, I'll stop complaining now, Monday's hard enough on it's own. Wishing you all a sunny week!

How much can you fit into 2 days? A lot. (If you don't sleep much.)

Tuesday, September 18, 2012

Sometimes I'm amazed at how much we can cram into a weekend. I knew going in that it would be hectic, but with perfect weather in the forecast we had to give it our best shot.  On Friday, we tried some new places in the city - dinner at Estate, and the grand opening of Fatpour, the latest beer spot in town.

On Saturday morning, I (very drearily) attended the Nordstrom Cosmetics Trend Show where I experienced the latest and greatest in cosmetics and skincare for Fall 2012. Oh, and Kimora Lee Simmons. No big deal. (More details later this week!)

As soon I as was finished primping and playing we escaped the city to our favorite camping spot in Michigan. It's just far enough from the hustle and bustle, close enough to the beach, and quiet enough to calm our minds. It doesn't hurt that it's smack dab in the middle of the wine trail. (Pure Michigan is no joke you guys.)

After setting up camp we took a walk, played around with the sunset, hopped on a hayride, then enjoyed dinner and cocktails at Journeyman Distillery. (Slightly more "glamping" than camping.) Once back to camp, we bundled up and built a fire while catching up on life. (Surely we aren't the only couple whose busy schedules can feel like two ships passing in the night?) We nearly froze as we slept but waking up to fresh air and morning sun made the chills worth it.

We made it back to Chicago with just enough time to throw in some laundry, catch a quick nap and prep for a new, busy week. Unfortunately, the shoe DIY just had to wait - hopefully next weekend!

Monday was a drag but hey, it's Tuesday now! So how was your weekend?

Sparkles

Fell in luuurve with this bracelet and these earrings over the weekend. Oh.em.geez.

It's so Monday.
How was your weekend?
Mine consisted of two trolley events (mardi gras & brewery tour), a blogger brunch/jewerly preview, coconut milk ice cream, a kitchen deep clean (I keep staring into the refrigerator in awe at it's interior beauty), and of course, the Oscar's! A great one I'd say, and just what I needed to kick off 2 very busy weeks.  Sooo, what were your red carpet thoughts - I wasn't wowed by anyone in particular this year, you?
