The Longest Shortest Road Trip Ever

Monday, November 26, 2012

Having just returned from a business trip to the Big Apple, I got word that we needed to be for back personal business within 3 days. So we loaded up the car, grabbed some snacks and hit the road. We're no strangers to long driving trips and chunks in the car, but this one set a personal record of hours driven in the shortest amount of time. Luckily, we had a few hours to spare in the city (and I do mean few) but we managed to enjoy a lunch on Madison Avenue, snap some non-cell phone pics and were back on our way. Here's a look at #longestshortestroadtripever by the numbers:

57 hours total
32 hours driving
16 hours of sleeping
6 hours in NYC
3 unaccounted for hours (eating?)
 1 kiss in Times Square

Don't be fooled, I only look like I have plenty of time to kill on a park bench.
In reality things looked more like this.

Hubby "Tebowed" every chance he got, (Times Square, Travel Plaza...) just for giggles.

I'm obsessed with public transportation in NYC.
Tip: if you drive to NYC and don't want to deal with parking in the city, stay in Secaucus, NJ.
Take bus #320 to the NY Port Authority (only 20 minutes!) located right off of Times Square.

Introducing the Mother-in-Law in Montreal to Times Square via Skype. Technology is so cool.

So happy to be home! :)

What's the farthest distance you've ever driven in one shot? Until this trip, my personal record was 12 hours.

  1. I had to drive from Big Sky, MT to Denver, CO for my interview with Northwest Airlines. In a blizzard. What should have taken 12 hours, took 17! All alone, in the car, in the snow. Guess I wanted te job badly!

  5. so cute!!! I love how relaxed you guys look when in reality you were rushing like crazy! Did he call out "c'mon peach" to you? Darling. Love, love, love it!

And I love the picture of the Skype session! Technology is so cool.

I have driven to Montana a few times which is about 18 hours so that is my furthest I think in one shot, not counting childhood roadtrips. I would love to have the time to rent an RV and drive across the United States for months. But clearly, that will not be happening for a long time, haha. Glad you had fun amid all of the hustle!

    1. He did!!

I would love to do the RV thing as well, but you're right, you need lots of time to do it right. I guess that's why you only hear of retired people doing it!
