Favorite Face Washes

Let's talk face wash, foams, scrubs and suds! I rotate between a few favorites, here's the scoop.

Sad fact: I still get breakouts and I'm not getting any younger. Denial ain't nothing but a river in Egypt... so I might as well kill two issues with one cleanser that contains anti-aging and anti-blemish properties. (Can I get a "woot!"?) On top of that, my skin is super oily so when it needs extra exfoliation I love Olay's pore minimizing scrub. It's fresh scent and gentle suds make my skin feel squeaky clean. To make matters more bogus, sometimes my face feels dry despite my oil producing pores. To keep a healthy balance I use Purity in the morning - the non drying and hydrating formula and feel ahmayzing with the Clarisonic Mia. (I love the Neutrogena with the Mia as well but I avoid any cleansers with exfoliating beads or scrubs, as they feel too harsh paired together.)

What are you skin care issues and how do you solve them? Am I the only one who chuckles at products made for 'normal' skin? I guess I'm just jealous!

  1. I want to try that Neutrogena wash...I am, also, sadly not getting any younger. Le sigh.

  2. I am in love, repeat in LOVE with the Body Shop and their facial products. The Tea Tree stuff is great for breakouts, I have them too. And while they can be more pricey, if you get them during a sale, like today is 3 products for $30!, you won't break the bank.

  3. I am totally with you at chuckling over products made for "normal" skin.... for me, my skin is super sensitive and I really like cetaphil's gentle facewash... but then I also have to rotate between hydrating gels and cremes because I can become dry in the winter and oily in the summer ~ ugh!

  5. Have you tried The Body Shop? OMG, where has it been all my life? Last may a coworker let me try some Vitamin C serum, I thought I was rubbing liquid diamonds on my face. seriously, thats what it reminds me of. So when I got home from that trip I had to get some for me, plus I thought I'd pick up a few more things. I have now tried something from everyone of their product lines and it is all awesome! The tea tree antiblemish line really works, the over night tea tree fade cream and the tea tree spot treatment are amazing! I see a difference overnight. And their seaweed line scrub is supurb, the mask in that is great. I've been using their moisturizers from the nutriganics line and if you need a eye cream, the vitamin E one is great, plus the Vitamin C duo literally will make me look wide awake, I just ordered 3 yesterday during the 3 for $30 sale. The items aren't super super expensive, but at $22 for some night cream, its not cheap, but they have sales often, usually a 3 for $30 sale every 3 months or so and a buy 3 get 2 free or buy 2 get 1 free, all the time so you can buy with out breaking the bank. And their rewards card is sooo worth getting too. I think it was $10, but you save an extra 10%, which if you are like me, you got back on your first purchase.

  7. I have the same skin issues. Oily but still dry, extremely oily with enlarged pores. Break outs too! I am dying to get a Clarisonic but I've also heard it can make your skin worse. For the price I'm afraid to risk it.

  8. Lissy - Yes! In my opinion worth every penny!

Happy Go Lucky - I am now on the Body Shop website making my final selections - THANK YOU for sharing, so many products I "need" :)

Amy Lynn - I did a ton of research before purchasing the Mia and separately have only heard wonderful things via blogs, beauty experts, dermatologists. My experience has been wonderful. I believe they have a 90 day money back guarantee - nothing to lose!

  9. I used the Olay 7 Defense something or other. Same issues though - oily skin mixed with winter dryness. I find toner makes a big difference so I now use the Kiehls toner for oily skin and their mattefying facial moisturizer. It's good stuff.

  11. AHAH I love the denial part, my granny used to say that to me all the time. When I'm being good I use the famous aprociat scrub and do a proactiv mask a few times a week.

  16. I swear by Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash and a facial brush to keep my pores clear. That wash is what I return to each time I branch out to something new and intriguing, and it never lets me down. Very pure, non-stripping, and extremely gentle on eyes for removing mascara.

  17. thanks for the tips, I still break out too. At age 27, I find it super irritating. So far I've been doing well with Trader Joe's tear-free face wash. But I might take you up on this bc my skin isn't perfect yet.
