Here we are...the first few days into a new year. How are we feeling?? Excited? Overwhelmed? Anxious?

A few years ago I started listing out our (me + the husband) resolutions. Separate and joint in a spiral journal. And at the end of the year we do a little recap before starting all over again. It's amazing to see what fell by the wayside (you know it happens!) and where we performed like rockstars.  We like to call them goals rather than resolutions because goals are actually attainable, right? (Resolution feels a little too similar to a 'quick fix' and quite frankly makes me nervous ;) are a few things we loved about you:
  • Friday night cocktail hour, a new recipe each week!
  • You threw a lot at us but you taught us we were stronger than we thought
  • A new dream seed was planted
  • You offered amazing experiences in the form of travel, adventure and spontenatiety giving us the chance to spend more time with family, reconnect with old friends and nurture relationships with new ones
  • A tea company was born!'s a sampling of what we want out of you:
  • More amazing experiences. Visits to and from, events, parties and adventure...I hereby appoint myself Official Social Calendar Executive.
  • A little financial closure. (Aka - pay off my car by June - 1.5 years early - woot!)
  • A sold condo
  • More reading. Last year you provided some great books in between your hordes of fashion mags, keep it up. And at least one classic per year. War & Peace, here I come!
  • Stick with the purging. Less really is more :)

Happy New Year friends. Best of luck with your goals and many happy moments in 2011.

  1. I really like this - I need to start instituting Friday evening cocktails!

    xoxo ~ Courtney

  2. Love your list. I need to give War & Peace a second chance. I was reading it in college and the story line made me so upset I still vividly remember tossing the book against my dorm wall. It lay where it fell for weeks and though I eventually put it up on the shelf I never opened it again. The funny thing is I can't remember what it was that upset me so. I guess that means I'm ready to try again =)

  3. 2010 was really a fantastic year for you guys, and I think 2011 sounds like it's well on its way to being stellar already! I love that you guys do Friday night cocktails-for all my Friday cocktail posts, John and I almost never mix them up!

  4. Courtney - I highly recommend it! We were more adventurous in the winter for some reason. In summer we mostly craved mojitos & margarita's :)

Hip Hip - The size alone was enough to terrify me! Would love to know what upset you so, that almost makes me giggle thinking of you tossing it across the room!

Lena - Thank you! I can't believe you don't partake in the cocktails?? I've used several of yours in delight!!

  5. Happy new year! Here's to an amazing, adventure-filled 2011.

  6. These are all great goals! I made goals instead of resolutions, too : )

    Happy New Year!

  7. Love the 2011 list!

and your xmas card bottom post is so cute!

  10. i wish you an amazing 2011 and here's to enjoy it to the fullest!

  11. Hope 2011 has many amazing adventures in store for you! I don't make resolutions because I don't keep them but am trying to adopt a healthier lifestyle... let's hope I can keep it up! xo

  12. Love your adventurous Friday night cocktail resolution...sounds like one that I could maintain! Happy 2011!

  13. I love this...I'm on purge mania 2011 that started in 2010. Here's to sticking with it! Less is where it's truly at. Happy New Year!

  14. That is such a great idea to recap your golas by the end of the year while creating a new list! I really love your list and I totally agree that little dinner dates are amazing and so needed:) Happy New Year, sweetie
