The moment I saw this shirt I was reminded of my grandmother. The colors and pattern were popular in her home decor and wardrobe as was the robe sleeve like draping - she was quite the fabulous dresser in her day and around the house favored frocks we affectionately called "Mimie gowns". Something about this top gave me flashbacks of Mimie gowns and I just had to have it. Funny how certain items can evoke vivid memories. Though I have a few pieces from her closet, it's nice to incorporate some modern items that feel just as sentimental. I was thrilled to take these pictures on the street I grew up on in Tennessee, the street where she and my grandfather built a home, raised a family, made wonderful memories and where their children would eventually live with their children. Being back there soothes my soul. There's no place like home.

    You look so tall and lean in this outfit. I like those jeans on you. I wear my late greatgrandmother's wedding ring every day. It is an amazing reminder of the selfless person she was.

    Please tell me if this is a joke! You are so cute! I can't believe how darling you look here- from the hair to the shoes to the background story, I LOVE it. So much. I have a lot of clothes from both my Grandparents so I have memories from them that I can wear like you do. I haven't really found anything in current stores but I would like to think I could. I LOVE your jeans here by the way, they're amazing. And the pic of you 3 times is tres cool!

    Ashleigh, just a sweet, heartfelt, beautiful post. In the fourth picture facing the heavens, I could easily imagine hearing Mimie (in a Mimie gown of course) calling to your grandfather to 'hurry, come look, our Ashleigh is home'...with the same excitement I will forever feel. You look amazing my precious daughter.

    That top is absolutely gorgeous! It kind of reminds me of a silk Chinese kimono jacket that I desperately wanted (but it was way too expensive). This is a great alternative. I'm going to look for this at H&M the next time I go.
