Valentine's Part Deux

{Live. Laugh. Love.}
That is all.

Ok, just kidding, that's not all. After visiting an extremely inspirational exhibit yesterday (more on that tomorrow) I'm inspired by love. Love for all people and things. Reading a negative post regarding this "Hallmark Holiday" I wanted to shake the person  politely ask, 'What if you put the love out there that you want to get back to any and everyone, not just on Valentine's but every day.' Instead of having expectations and disappointments, focus the love/special treatment that you want to receive on others and see what happens. Why would I expect someone to let me merge into heavy traffic if I'm guilty of being a rude driver sometimes myself? Why would I expect a special treat on a holiday if I haven't done anything for anyone else? That's not to say that for every bouquet comes a bouquet. For years I sent cards for special occasions through snail mail, hardly ever receiving one in return on my special occasions. After a while it got to me and I felt like my efforts were unappreciated. What I finally realized, was that it's not an eye for an eye situation. My 'cards' come in the form of all green light commutes, rockstar parking spots in busy lots and excellent luck at winning raffles.

A while back someone said to me "People should not meet your expectations." It stuck with me and I repeat it often. Things are what you make them, if you make Valentine's be a holiday for romantic love only, you're going to be sad every year you don't have a date. If you desperately want something done take it into your own hands.  Which is exactly why I plan my own birthday parties :)

Hugs & Love on this special day!

P.S. More thoughts on Valentine's Day.

  4. Horray for celebrating the love today, and for planning your own birthday parties! People may not always live up to your expectations, which only means there's no excuse not to make them happen for yourself! A wonderful post, and a very happy Valentine's Day!

  12. I agree with you, I don't really expect much from people anymore other than the basics such as manners and loyalty etc. but in terms of making a day extra special I think we should be thankful with what we have everyday ie good health and good company :) happy valentines day!
