Pregnancy Quotes

{Week 20 Bump}

Over the past several months I've come across a few pregnancy related quotes that really resonated with me. I realize now why people become obsessed with #bumpies and oversharing their kids on social media; because before they're even born, you devote nine months of your life doing any and everything you can to guarantee a healthy start and a safe arrival. It literally consumes you. This experience has given me a new appreciation for the miracle of life, our bodies, and the joy (and terror!) of creating and preparing for a little one. Here are a few of my favorite words on the subject....

"I ended up
getting kind of excited to show the
bump, as a badge of pride. "Like 'I'm a woman! Look at me making a human! I am a goddess!'"

Enjoy the pregnancy, not racing ahead and relishing the moment. I think people see pregnancy as something to get over with, but every stage of becoming a mother is really special.”
-Olivia Wilde

"There is such a special sweetness in being able to participate in creation."
-Pamela S. Nadav

"I’ve become a gentler and more patient person. Having {my daughter} in my life has forever changed my heart. She’s changed the way I see people, the way I see the world. To me, everyone is someone’s baby and I find I have much more compassion."
-Amanda Jane Jones

"I do not care what kind of birth you have...a homebirth, scheduled cesarean, epidural hospital birth, or if you birth alone in the woods next to baby deer. I care that you had options, that you were supported in your choices, and that you were respected."

Letting Go

Monday, October 22, 2012

via

I could say a million things about this really, but I think it speaks for itself. I have found it and I have let go. (Ok, most of it.) Oh, the worries, the stress and the wondering - how heavy those feelings can be. If you're hanging on to something you know you shouldn't, I hope you find the courage to let it go.

Que Sera Sera, my lovelies.

Live in Your Sun

I think wearing this sun bangle would be a good reminder, you?

P.S. Anyone remember this perfume? My friend Amanda got it for her birthday when we were in high school. I was sooo jealous! :)

Who Gives a Ship?

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

If your ship hasn't come in yet, swim out to it.

Can we talk about feelings for a bit? My Mom sent this quote recently and it really resonated with me. I read your blogs so I know we all struggle with many of the same things - work/life balance, the passing of time (is there ever enough?), family/work/health/commutes/social media - how does a person juggle it all...  While this quote isn't directly related to any of that, it did make me think about the metaphor of ships and the various points of our being that contribute our overall feelings of happiness, satisfaction or, miserable-ness.

So...which ship scenario are you?
-Are you eagerly awaiting the arrival of yours with a bunch of balloons?
-Or are you feeling more like the an ambitious ship captain trapped in a tiny pond?
-Maybe you're just happily drifting?
Do share.

P.S. Depending on the day, I can feel a little of all the above. However, lately it's been more like mine is full speed ahead! Hopefully cruising resumes at a regular pace next week :)

I can imagine it working out perfectly, he said. I can't, she said & I said no wonder you're so stressed.

I'm so guilty of this....worrying before need be. And it usually turns out there was nothing to worry about after all, am I right? Here's to a worry free week, chill pills for everyone!!

The Quest for Happiness

Happiness is a butterfly, which, when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp. But which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.

Taking a little moment of reflection today. Deep breath and aaaahhhh....

What a Week!

Sunday, May 2, 2010

Ever have one of those weeks that you expect to go a certain way and it turns out completely the opposite? Last week was crazy and wonderful and unexpected but the packed schedule really got me behind on the ol' blog and you know what? I really missed it!

However, it did include some fun things like:
-A taping of America's Got Talent at the Chicago Theater. (Sharon Osborne is so cute in person!)
-A spring sale at K.Amato - so much jewelry, so little time!
-An outdoor party by a fire pit. Got me in the mood for camping!

I couldn't help but notice a common theme of sweet stories and thoughtful quotes around the web this week. Here are just a few of my favorites. I hope to be back to my regular posting self on Monday!

An (everything) Fabulous quote

Lets all make a spring list, shall we?

Gretchen said it best and pretty pictures too!

100 things you'll never regret doing. (Can't argue with a 100 item list!)

Happy Weekend, what's left of it! We're day tripping to Milwaukee for an Owl City concert tonight. I love Fireflies!
