Gratitude

Friday, April 15, 2011

{This is me, writing a big 'ol Thank You note to each of you.}

Dear Wonderful People,
You've all been sooo supportive lately and I wanted to take this day to say a big Thank You to each of my loyal readers and offer a warm hello to my newest followers and visitors! I enjoy our interactions so much and appreciate each and every comment, email, Facebook message and Tweet from you! I know I can't make it around each day and I feel bad about that, but when I do I love digging into the past few days of your life all at once to catch up. You are truly an amazing, inspiring group of people and if we lived nearby I just know we'd all be best friends in real life :)

Lately, I shared a few outfit ensembles with you and your comments have been exceptionally sweet and supportive. I'm dipping my toes into it and was/am very hesitant to go down the outfit path if for no other reason than fear. Initially, all those childish insecurities run through my head..."Will they like it?", "Will they laugh at me?" and I really appreciate you welcoming a little more of that here as I integrate a bit more fashion related musings. The fashion industry holds a huge place in my heart and I recently (finally) finished an About Page and FAQ section if you'd like to learn more.

I believe blogs are living and breathing and deserve to grow as their owner grows. While I love sharing new products, wishlists and photos with you I'm excited to begin a new chapter of sharing and discussing things like Fabrics, Apparel Quality and Care. It won't be boring I promise :) And don't worry, the usual stuff will still pop up - it's not like a total makeover, more like adding a few new accessories.

I also wanted to let you know that the "It's the Little Things Series" has officially moved to Facebook. It seemed like the perfect format to share and be inspired by others. If you'd like to contribute just upload a 'Little Thing' you love with a caption explaining why and tag 'Little Girl, Big World'. (You must have 'Liked' the page in order to tag it.)  If any of you have Pages please share them below and I will seek you out!

Thank you all again so so much. Your support and kind words mean the world to me!

Spring Trend

Friday, April 8, 2011

I'm excited to be participating in my first ever {Fashion Beauty Friend Friday} hosted by Katy of Modly Chic. The topic is Spring trends we're looking forward to this season so let's jump right in!

Trend is a interesting word. There are trends, then there are really classic things that come back 'round as trends. There are trendsetters as well as trend avoiders. Trend right or sooo last year. What I've noticed about myself over the years, is that I'm sort of a trend extremist - approaching with caution in some cases, wild abandon in others. (I shunned Uggs and faux fur vests, but succumbed to nail art and tiny bow overload.)  In the end, my selections are based on items I love no matter who says it's 'trendy' or not, but lucky for me - this season I naturally in love with tons of 'trend'!!

1. Red Pants.
So French girl. So chic. So want.

Beautiful bondage for your feet. In a great neutral to go with said pants.

3. Coral Lips.
A la J.Crew - it's spring after all and nothing brightens the face like a vacation inspired hue.

A tiny strand peeking out of a pony or swirling around in waves.
Yeah, we went from French girl to hippie but that's how I roll! (Via here.)

5. Maxi skirts.
Preferring skirts and loose bottoms to shorts in the warmer months anyway, I see this being my new linen pant of sorts. And who better to do flowy than Free People - 1, 2, 3.

So...what are you embracing (or shunning??) this season?  Happy Spring!

For Japan With Love

Thursday, March 17, 2011

Tomorrow, I'm taking part in the Bloggers Day of Silence - a moment of quiet to honor the recent tragedy in Japan. I urge you to visit For Japan With Love to learn more about this project and how you can help. I'm constantly amazed by the blogging community and the willingness to come together in a time of need, {this post} by Ever Ours explains what's been done so far.

While it will be quiet around here, peek at these related links in the meantime:

Finally, I'm ecstatic to be paired with Melissa of Oh, My Darling as part of Krysten's After I Do Big Sister, Little Sister project. Melissa is featuring me on her blog today with a few fun facts - head over and say hello, she shares the greatest finds!

Do Something Good (and Do Fun Stuff)

Thursday, August 19, 2010

Let's get serious for a minute. I need your help because my favorite blogger on planet earth needs our help. Ryan at Pacing the Panic Room is doing something amazing and because we bloggers have have the ability to reach an insane amount of people we need to spread the word. If you don't know Ryan's work what rock have you been living under? Just kidding. But you've seriously been missing out. He documents his life (among other things) and most famously photographed his wife's pregnancy. Cue the awwww... (By the way, there are some really terrible knockoff's of Ryan's maternity series out there. When I see it I just cringe but alas, I'm not here to complain. Just know he was the original genius.)

Anyhoo, back to the point...
Ryan is spearheading an album for charity to raise money for Smith Magenis Syndrome - a rare genetic disorder that The Littlest Buddy (his stepson) was diagnosed with. Here's what you you can do to help:

1. Visit Ryan's blog and read this post - it will answer all your questions about the album launch on August 30th and tell you the ways you can help and why you should.

2. Be a twitter maniac today and spread the word using the hash tag #dofunstuff and gently begging Ellen to have a dance party on her show. Come up with your own kind plea or retweet mine.

3. Mark your calendar for August 30th - the day we will post/tweet/facebook about the album launch and share the goodness.

This is my most favorite thing about blogging - making online buddies, falling in love with their stories and being able to do something good with our voices. So come on guys, if you call yourself a friend (or even if you hate my guts) have a heart and help out!
